Alive Festival and Ohio Recap

By thelovealliance

We are driving through the mountains of Pennsylvania listening to Donald Miller’s “Through Painted Deserts.”  We just left Lake Chippewa, OH, which is where we stayed during Alive Festival and our little break.  We had a great time there and stayed with our friend Chris Waite, an Invisible Children Roadie from this past spring tour.  We were able to talk to Chris about his work with IC and his recent trip to Uganda, be on the lookout for that interview on our second podcast.

Alive Festival was a long four days but it went well.  We were able to spread the word about The Love Alliance and the issues that we deal with.  We have already gone through about 6,000 flyer cards.  We met some amazing people and were able to get to know a lot of the other vendors better.  Day Four of the festival we had a huge storm.  We were able to get a lot of video footage so look out for that in our third Video Blog.

We had two days off after Alive and we spent them at Chris’ lake house.  Sunday we planned on water skiing all day but it continued to rain.  Luckily a window of clear skies opened up that night and we were all able to give it a try.  The next morning we woke up sore but it was definitely worth it.  That afternoon Chris took us to the abandoned Lake Chippewa Amusement Park to take some pictures.  The first thing we came across was a massive wooden rollercoaster.  I played it safe while the other guys went climbing up the tracks.  It began to rain so we all climbed up to an enclosed area.  After the rain stopped we decided to continue to explore.  Chris jumped off the platform into a pile of wood and I said I would rather not jump on a nail, just as those words came out of my mouth I stepped and felt something sharp go through my shoe and into my foot.  I pulled up and saw a nail, I took my shoe off and my sock was covered in blood.  I called Lauren who was at the house to find out when my last Tetanus shot was.  From what we concluded, my last shot was when I went to Honduras in 9th grade.  Lauren drove me to the Urgent Care Center and after waiting a while I saw the doctor and got a shot, not something I was too excited about but I made it through okay.

That brings us to today, we are driving to Creation Festival which starts tomorrow.  We look forward to meeting new people and seeing some old friends.  Pictures from Alive Festival are up on the Flickr and our second Video Blog should be up today or tomorrow.  Keep checking the blog for more post, videos, and pictures.
